March 4th - 23rd
AMBIGUOUS REALITIES RELAUNCH
Colour Photographs by Dorothy Bohm
‘UNHEARD OF BUT THIS IS A UNIQUE AND EXTRAORDINARY GESTURE by Dorothy Bohm, one of the great doyennes of International photography’ says Ben Uri Chairman David Glasser. ‘The exhibition has been so successful that we asked if it could be extended till the 23 March and Dorothy’s response has taken our breath away. She agreed only if it is transformed into a selling show with the proceeds going to help fund and secure the museum’s future exhibition programme. What’s more Dorothy has set out very advantageous prices at between £500 to £1000 as she says ‘I want a sell out so everyone benefits, the visitors, the collectors and the Ben Uri’
Dorothy Bohm said
“Having enjoyed working so closely with the Ben Uri Gallery and Museum on my Ambiguous Realities exhibition it was impossible not to recognise the passion and vision of the London Jewish Museum of Art and quite how such a small team generate such a varied and demanding programme I don’t know but they do!.
I have watched Ben Uri’s international reputation grow over the past 5 years and I want to demonstrate my support by donating the proceeds from all sales to their exhibition programme so young artists get continued support in the museum’s programme.
I am delighted and honoured they are recognising my contribution in the April series of three contemporary exhibitions titled ‘Journeys’ and I hope my gesture will stimulate other established artists to support and contribute to Ben Uri either by donating important examples to the museum’s wonderful collection and or like myself also offering to donate the proceeds of the sale of part or all of an exhibition.”
