Ritual and Regard 1

This exhibition features two contemporary British Painters who share many strands of commonality. Both are immigrants, Shanti is the first generation Indian, born in Gujarat in India, whereas Julie, who was born in London to parents who escaped Nazi Germany, is second generation Jewish.

Ritual and Regard 2

Their work explores issues of memory and longing for a lost culture alongside a vibrant celebration of a new home and hopes for the future. both artists share a love of colour and simplicity of composition and are deeply rooted in a traditional respect for artists' materials and a humanist approach. the exhibition encompasses work from 1999 - 2006, and explores shares themes of family, faith and the rituals of everyday life that bind us all together.
