PRIMARY SCHOOLS:
We offer education programmes to both Key Stages 1
and 2. These support the National Curriculum Programmes
of Study for Art and Design and other curriculum areas
as appropriate to the exhibition.
Cross-curricula links made in programmes for previous
exhibitions include:
- Abram Games: Maximum Meaning, Minimum Means
- Art (poster design and composition), History (propaganda,
life in Britain during the Second World War), Literacy
(slogans, written and visual puns), Citizenship (Road
safety, car use, litter, refugees)
- Tom Bendhem: Collector - Art (art history,
sculpture), ICT (using the internet for research)
- Rediscovering Wolmark: a pioneer of British
modernism - Art (Self portraits, portraits),
RE (Jewish Life)
Links with the QCA schemes of work are made where appropriate.
Teachers' packs are available for each exhibition giving
the background to artist(s) and the work. Links to the
curriculum are given along with ways to follow up the
visit in the classroom.
We offer Primary School visits with input from education
staff at the gallery or teacher-led. Sketch books are
welcome.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS:
Secondary School teachers are welcome to bring groups
to the exhibitions. Teachers packs are available which
give the background to artist(s) and the work. Links
to National Curriculum subjects are given along with
ways to follow up the visit in the classroom. See above
for the rage of cross curricula links made for previous
exhibitions.
ART SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES:
A programme of talks runs on Sundays during exhibition
which would be of interest to art students. Groups of
students are welcome at other times - please call to
arrange a convenient time. It may be possible to organise
a talk or tour by a specialist. |
