Israel was founded in May 1948. Teddy Kollek, the Museum's Founding Patron was a significant figure before the foundation of the State and continued to be a unique and central character throughout his life. From being Ben Gurion's right hand aide to Mayor of Jerusalem for nearly 30 years, he held a vision far in advance of his time. This exhibition explores Teddy Kollek's life and passion for the State of Israel through the eyes of many important artists from Israel and abroad and pays tribute to this unique phenomenon who died last year. The exhibition will survey many of the outstanding Israeli artists who have played their part in the remarkable development of the Jewish State.
